Member Spotlight: Kelsey Stewart

Say hello to Kelsey - CrossFit Renew member, social worker, recent axe throwing enthusiast. What can't she do?!

Q: What brought you to Renew and how long have you been a member?

A: I had been driving past the gym for a while, thinking about joining and talking myself out of it. After looking at the website a few times I decided to make an appointment and see if this would be a good fit for me. I've been a member now for about 5 months.

Q: Where are you from? If not from Austin, how long have you been here?

A: I grew up in New Orleans, and moved to Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. My Mom and I have been here ever since!

Q: One year from now, what do you hope to have mastered? What skill or lift do you hope to add to your wheelhouse?

A: Overall strength and fluid movement. I’m tall and can touch my toes, but I’d love to get into a deep squat that feels comfortable and like second nature.

Q: What’s your favorite movement?

A: I love a deadlift. I feel like I can really test my strength and come out of the workout feeling strong.

Q: What’s something Renew has taught you about your fitness?

A: That I should not compare myself to others in the room and that I will be met where I’m at.

Q: What do you do outside of the gym? Both for work and play?

A: I am a Social Worker currently working on a Pediatric Inpatient Mental Health Unit. I really enjoy getting into new shows and movies, hanging out with friends and recently discovered that I love axe throwing.

Q: What’s your favorite eatery in Austin?

A: I’d have to say Star of India. I love Indian food and their buffet never disappoints.

Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you.

A: I am the youngest of my 4 half siblings. My siblings are 20, 14 and 10 years older than me.

Kelsey, you are absolutely crushing it! We're so glad you took the leap to schedule that first intro, the evening classes wouldn't be the same with you!
