Lauren Bazan

Lauren, aka” Baz” or “Coach Lala”, as the kids call her, is one of Renew’s O.G. athletes. She joined not long after Justin Hroch first launched Renew back in 2012 when the gym was housed in a shed at the For The City Center in St. Johns. From there she fell in love with the sport. Around 2017, Baz moved to the Middle East, and continued her CrossFit journey there until she finally decided to get her CF-L1 in January of 2021 while still living in the U.A.E. Not long after that, she joined a coaching team at a gym in Muscat, Oman, where she coached for 2.5 years until returning to the states in January 2024. She then began coaching at Renew in March of 2024. When she’s not at the gym, you can probably find her either working at her 9-5 as the Donations Coordinator at More Than Welcome, a non-profit that assists refugees and asylum seekers, or at home with her favorite cat buddy Rufio, whom she flew from Oman to be with her.
